Anything that has to do with Mammal Cosine: Summer (formerly Intermortal. Yes, I know I should change the name and the icon.) Starring Puddles, Mattie, and Michael.
Look who's back! I haven't uploaded a Mike drawing on here since the Hollow Mike one, mainly because I haven't been satisfied with his design. But a couple days ago I started working on his design, and after a lot of phases (drawings mostly sorted by age from left to right) I'm liking the look of this one.
Let's go over some changes from previous designs: ditched the hair, ditched the shirt, rope for weapon holding, long pants with rope belt, big center horn with two smaller horns in the back, dark eyes, ribbon on left horn.
This happened just by coincidence, but this design is pretty similar to the Hollow Mike designs I mentioned before. Guess I was doing something right there. Also, the proportions are not final; I just drew him in a less detailed style because it was easier to get the work done that way.
Changed his tail and generally made him look more wet, which is important because wet is all he is.
Made for the Christian Tumblr OC Tournament.
A variety of Mattie sketches and some weapons, mainly the spear she fights with, but also some hand bidents and a knife.
On a somewhat relevant note, Mike's people make metal weapons out of shipwrecks on Porta's shore. I have decided that is how they do that.
Alternative design for Puddles I am absolutely not using because he is just so weird and goopy. He is to be a little splishy splashy guy and not this. But I made it anyway for the sake of knowing.
I like how Puddles looks here, aside from the fact that his ears never look the same twice, but I also tried a little bit of a background and I think it was a nice addition.
Yeah Puddles has become my design of choice quite quickly. I drew him real small and tiny here, and you may notice that the waterfall thing around his neck has extended to cover his entire torso. Waterfall poncho. It's a waterfall poncho now.
In celebration of the third year since the first published drawing of Bubble Cat was made, I made some cats out of the component materials of Bubble Cat: water, soap, corn syrup, and air. Each of their nicknames are more or less what I think Mike and Mattie would call him (I think Mike would rotate through a bunch of different names for Puddle Cat before Mattie suggests that name.)
In other news, I'm thinking of having Puddles take the place of Bubs. Among other reasons, I think it would really mark a sort of splitting-off from Sean Charmatz's Bubblecat, who Bubs is based on, after slowly distancing him in design and character this whole time.
Either way, this is still one of my favorite characters I've made, and I'm excited to see what the next year of this cat brings!
Another Hollow Knight-inspired Mike design. Not going to use this design for anything but. He got hands.
Scribbly Mike I made. His face is hard for me to get right.
The only thing I drew while I didn't have internet connection. It was a busy time. I don't think I made her greasy enough.
See look at him he's silly.
The main cast takes a moment of rest on an oddly small beach at sunset. Mike is a bit janky and the background could use some work, but I quite like this one.
Portrait of Mattie being greasy and tired as usual. Someone said she looks like a dude here and I was like "oh well Mattie is a girl's name, it's short for Matilda" at which point I found out Mattie is usually short for Matthew. Oops.
I wanted to change Mike's design to better resemble a rhino beetle, so I tried giving him elytra and a carapace, along with giving him two horns like a beetle's mandibles. In the end, I went with... the old design. I couldn't find a way to keep that malicious smile of his, and I wanted to keep his hair for its shape. I did keep the new horns, though.
The first drawing of Bubble Cat, featured in the center, was invented (or at least uploaded) June 6th of 2020, so I made this collage of the many different designs he went through in celebration of his second year of being made up.
A painting of a distant sunset I threw bubs into. Looks nice from a distance and was fun to do.
One-horned Mike in old outfit. Decorative wings in the background. To this day I'm still bad at making a hand look like it's actually holding something.
"you can just pop him right into your mouth. it's fine"
And also small and had a huge, fluffy tail?
