Happy birthday website! I am going to get straight to the points with this post: first, it's kinda not really the site's third birthday. Work on this version of the site, PastryPurgatory v2, did start on 2022-12-09, and launched on 2023-01-31, but my Neocities account appears to have been registered on 2020-12-18, which I see as, and now declare, the realest start date. Plus it means the site is almost five years old instead of just three.
Second, I clearly haven't used the site much this year. Prior to this one, there's been a total of 5 updates in 2025, and while that does include the latest huge update to the art gallery, most were not very substantial. Instead, I've been on Tumblr much more, treasonous as it sounds. Turns out it's actually been a pretty great place to post and archive art and writings, and I now have something loosely resembling a friend group on there, so it's gotten most of my focus.
This brings me to my third point: I'm considering a big renovation to the site to make it into something that would be more useful to me alongside Tumblr (and to give me something to do. I'm still very unemployed). Currently, I'm thinking that means fewer pages, more emphasis on the Bog and the art galleries, and using an SSG that wasn't made in my basement. I don't think my first try will be the final, satisfying answer to how I want it to be, but I think the site definitely needs to change somehow.
I don't wanna make some big dramatic resolution at the end of this, but the new year has me wanting to work on making this site, and the rest of my life, fuller and better. My opportunities are endless, my talents are real, and actual real people are thinking about and talking to me. I can very much do something with all that.
